Avro 531 Spider
Single seater fighter
130hp Clerget Engine
The front fuselage section was from a 504k married to a shorterned rear fuselage and the first engine was 110hp Le Rhone. This was done to speed up manufacturing and also to keep down costs as this was an unsponsored private venture.
Armament was a single synchronised Vickers gun on top of the fuselage. It was hoped that the Spider to take over from the Avro 504k in the night fighter home defence role.
